Senior Product Manager, Platform Solutions

Position can be in San Mateo, CA or New York, NY

Xignite is building out the Product Management team to support our growing cloud-based market data distribution platform. You will be responsible for our Platform Solutions suite of solutions that Xignite uses to run its business and  licenses to our customers. You will be managing and prioritizing requirements and projects on our product roadmap. Attention to detail and an eye for quality, along with the ability to grasp and translate market demand into technical requirements is crucial. In your role as a Product Manager you will be the expert in your products and underlying customer requirements, the target market segments and use cases for your products. You will use this knowledge to influence key stakeholders in the organization to put resources to work, influence the product roadmap, and drive commercial success for your products.

Responsibilities

  • Work with stakeholders to quantify market opportunity, define product position and differentiation, validate and prioritize feature sets.
  • Develop product and architectural requirements, develop acceptance tests.
  • Lead cross-functional efforts across Sales, Marketing, Engineering, and Support for successful product plans and launches that help achieve our sales goals.
  • Enable sales to be successful through sales training, product documentation, collateral development, pre-sales support, pricing development, and other activities.
  • Run beta programs for early adopters that validate product designs and implementations. Act as the de-facto project manager for early implementation customers.
  • Help drive closure on engineering design and implementation decisions.
  • Enable and support software engineering teams to deliver on time and on target.
  • Create sample applications that demonstrate and showcase valid real-world usage.

Qualifications

  • 5-10 years product management or software engineering experience. B2B, i.e., experience with business-oriented products vs consumer-oriented products much preferred.
  • 4-year degree required with great academic record. Engineering undergrad degree+ MBA is best.
  • Relevant financial market data industry experience. Knowledge or experience of enterprise market data systems such as the Bloomberg terminal, Bloomberg Data License, Thomson Reuters DataScope, Thomson Reuters RMDS and other a significant plus.
  • Comfortable with a wide array of technology and topics (APIs, AWS, streaming, system integration, storage, caching, optimization, cloud deployment, etc.). SaaS experience preferred.
  • Strong (functional) UI/UX design skills, with enough UI technology knowledge and experience to work directly with engineering.
  • Strong project management experience:
    • Systems integration – project management of technical integration of products with existing third-party solutions
    • Customizations – change order management
    • Parallel testing – define and carry through parallel testing efforts that instill confidence in a new product deployment
    • Go live – production cutover and management of production support issues and resolution
  • Very strong written communication skills. Comfortable presenting to large audiences with conviction and passion. Able to lead an audience. Comfortable being the product champion in front of prospects and customers. Ability to present and engage at the product level through the technical details in a pre-sale situation.
  • Strong analytical thinker. Committed about making decisions based on facts and data. Able to connect the dots. Able to identify patterns and make tough decisions based on partial information. Excel and PowerPoint wizard (basic skills insufficient).
  • Scope definition skills and experience – ability to understand customer business objectives, technical design of core product enhancements driven by customer business objectives.
  • Requirements definition skills and experience – ability to define detailed requirements that capture customer business objectives and precisely clarify functionality that engineering needs to implement. test-driven development starts from product management use cases.
  • Excellent listening skills. Detective skills. Great at asking the right questions and looking for clues. Always like to ask why, why, why.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, startup environment. Know how to build bridges and relationships with stakeholders
  • Excellent people and management skills to interact with team, colleagues and cross-functional teams, and third parties.

Technical Skills Required

  • Working knowledge of API technology strongly preferred (JSON, REST, XML)
  • Knowledge of agile development methodologies
  • Proficiency with query language(s) such as SQL
  • Experience with application development languages such as Java, Python, HTML, etc. strongly preferred.
  • Knowledge of standard project and communication management tools such as Slack
