Staff Accountant

Location: San Mateo, CA

Managing our day to day financial operations, including Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, Collections, Month and Year-end Closing and Financial Reporting is critical to Xignite’s business operations.

We need a hard-working Staff Accountant to join our finance department. The Staff Accountant will assist the Controller in month-end close, monthly reporting, AP process and will fully manage the AR and Collections.

The ideal candidate for this high-impact role combines the following skills:

  • Computer Skills: Majority of your job will be done on computers, Journal entries, Transaction analysis, creating spreadsheets, and Excel reporting
  • Analytical Skills: Numbers are your friends, you will be looking at them and trying to find disparities, cost-saving areas and new solutions.
  • Communication Skills: You must be a strong communicator, both through email, over the phone and in-person. Your role will frequently deal with customers, vendors and senior levels of management.
  • Organizational Skills: Accounting work gets hectic. Keeping accurate records and the ability to prioritize, multi-task and efficiently organize your time will be critical to your success.


  • Accurate, efficient and timely processing of AP and AR, which includes billing and sending invoices to clients
  • Full management of AR collections and provide bi-weekly collection report to the finance and accounts management team.
  • Evaluate credit worthiness through credit scoring and reporting systems (D&B); assess, analyze and provide recommendation for credit limit decisions.
  • Identify and execute necessary adjustments in improving company AP and AR processes and controls
  • Participate actively in the monthly close process, including preparing of journal entries, reconciliation of ledger accounts, and generating financial reports.
  • Budget vs Actual reporting by department
  • Revenue and expense analysis, comparison to budgets and forecast, trend analysis
  • Assist in tax filings (corporate, property and sales tax) and preparation of 1099 forms
  • Assist in the preparation of year-end schedules and support of the annual financial statement audit audits.
  • Perform other ad-hoc projects as necessary


  • BA/BS in Accounting or Finance or equivalent
  • Solid understanding of accounting processes and procedures
  • Minimum of three to five years experience in an Accounting role
  • Proficiency in MS Office Suite, with advanced working knowledge of Excel
  • Netsuite ERP, Salesforce.com and Certify/Expensify experience required
